Our Favourites
Here are a couple of our favorites. Soon, a list of our vast wine selection will be available here on the site.Barolo delle Brunate 1997 Giuseppe Rinaldi
Just outside the historic centre of Barolo where the road to Monforte curves, you can find Beppe Rinaldi’s winery. Aside from being one of Italy’s legendary winemakers, Beppe is also among the most humble. However, his wines are not. This Brunate has come a long way in its spectacular making, harvested in the very heart of Italy’s best Barolo soil and resting in a riserva for 10 years before being bottled and chauffeur driven to Copenhagen by Elvio himself. This big character now rests in the restaurant’s vaults, ready to create a scene worthy of a star.Podere il Palazzino Grosso Sanese
If you want history, ask for a bottle of Podere il Palazzino by Alessandro Sderci. Not only does the vinyard date back to 1793, the Palazzino wine was also the first bottle to be uncorked in 1983 when Era Ora finally became a reality. As with all great memories, the sweetness, the spices and the warmth of this great vintage increase as the years go by, nursed inside a bottle that is eager to tell its tale about great terroir, labour, proud tradition – and friendship.Brunello di Montalcino 1997 Baricci
At Era Ora, Nello Baricci and his wines are legendary. Nello was the first person to introduce Elvio to the wonders of the Brunello as the supplier of red wine to Elvio’s parents. Nello is still crucial the Milleri family and Era Ora. Elvio, Edelvita and Alessandro call him their “mountain of wisdom”, and its easy to understand their appreciation when pouring a rare glass of this Brunello. Each and every drop leaves a sensation worth a thousand words. So instead of calling this wine ‘great’, ‘voluminous’ or ‘phenomenal’, we should simply describe it as ‘encyclopaedic’.Refolà Le Vigne di San Pietro
In Era Ora, the uncorking of this wine is rarely noticed. Often people around the table are enjoying the conviviality, laughing and joking, concentrating on the food on their plate and the wine that they have just sipped. The waiter appears from no where like a magician, pouring the wine and introducing the bottle. Then: silence. Afterwards: happiness. Though very simple, this kind of ‘quiet magic’ is the strength of both the Refolá and of Carlo Nerozzi, the guy who makes it.
