The Story So Far

In Italian, ‘era ora’ means simply ‘about time’. And this notion of time lies at the heart of our restaurant’s philosophy. At Era Ora, the experience of preparing and enjoying quality food is never rushed. A truly convivial moment requires time.

We believe that food and eating should be a complete sensory and intellectual experience, evoking history, culture, memories and emotions as well as taste and texture. Respect for ingredients, detail and tradition dances with imagination and culinary intrigue. Elements of rusticity meet urbane style. A return to judicious food preparation and enjoyment.

The story began in 1983 when owners Elvio Milleri and Edelvita Santos opened a small restaurant in Christianshavn and began the process of pioneering high quality Italian gastronomy that would change Danish perceptions. Long time friend and cook Alessandro Jacoponi joined the team in 1987, and over the next two decades, Era Ora evolved and so did Danish culinary attitudes.
Since 1996 Era Ora has upheld its prestigious Michelin star; numerous other accolades include being four-time winner of the best restaurant in Denmark award.

The process of evolution came full circle in 2008, with the opening of sister establishment, Antiristorante L’ Altro, where rusticity meets conviviality. And the latest venture is Acquamarina, embodying “Terra e Mare” with the freshest of Danish fish and juicy organic meat.
